About this event
On October 28, 2026, a free high-tech eye screening will take place in Nesebar using artificial intelligence. The mobile cabinet will be located on Square 'Zhulieta Shishmanova' No. 1, in front of the Artium Culture and Education Center. The examinations will be conducted from 10:00 to 16:00 without prior registration. The screening is intended for people aged 50 and above, as well as patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes who are at increased risk of eye complications. The examination is fast, painless and non-invasive. Using a specialized fundus camera, the eyes are photographed without the need for pupil dilation. Artificial intelligence software analyzes the images in real time for specific changes related to four eye diseases - glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and dry and wet forms of macular degeneration. In case of deviations, the results will be discussed on-site by an ophthalmologist doctor, who will give recommendations for further actions. Before the examination, participants complete an informed consent form and a short questionnaire about their health status. It is important to note that the screening does not replace the standard preventive eye exam and does not constitute a medical diagnosis. Its purpose is to help detect changes that require further evaluation by a specialist. Until November 13, 2026, the mobile cabinet will visit a total of 29 small settlements in six regions of the country, aiming to improve access to specialized screening examinations in areas where healthcare services are more limited. The campaign is organized with the support of the Ministry of Health. Organizer is the Bulgarian Digital Health Innovations Cluster (DHI Cluster), in partnership with the Bulgarian Society for Pediatric Ophthalmology, Neuro-Ophthalmology and Ophthalmogenetics and the ISPOR BG Chapter of the Bulgarian Association for Pharmacoeconomics, with support from Roche Bulgaria.
